Lev

Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

Religious practice is personal. Lev is built so that what you do stays on your phone. This policy explains the few things that do leave it.

In short

Who we are

Lev is made by Ilan Uzan, an individual whose business is based in Quebec, Canada ("we"). For anything about your privacy, write to hello@lev.day.

The person in charge of protecting personal information is Ilan Uzan, reachable at the same address.

What stays on your iPhone

Your onboarding answers and settings (language, community and nusach, city, what you do, your goals, Shabbat mode and similar), your reminders and your streak check-ins are stored in the app on your device. They aren't sent to us.

To remove them, use Me → Delete all personal data in the app, or delete the app. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Apple's backup may include this data, under Apple's terms.

Your location

Lev needs your city to show correct times. You can type it, or tap the button to use your location. If you do, iOS asks for permission, and your position is sent to Apple's map service only to find the city name. Lev doesn't keep your position and never sends it to us.

Prayer and Shabbat times (Hebcal)

To calculate times, the app asks Hebcal.com for the times of your city, using the city's name when you search and the city's ID afterwards. Like any website, Hebcal receives your device's IP address with each request. Hebcal is an independent service with its own privacy policy. We don't send Hebcal anything else about you.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never see your name, card or Apple ID. The app checks on your device, through Apple, whether you have an active subscription.

Tehillim campaigns

Campaigns are shared by design: anyone with a campaign's link can see it. Here is what we store, on servers run for us by Supabase.

When you…We store
Take part, in the app or on this websiteA random code created on your device or in your browser (we keep only a scrambled version of it), the chapters you took and finished, and when. No name, email or account.
Create a campaignIts title, purpose, dedication and language, and an identifier from Sign in with Apple. If you choose to share your email with Sign in with Apple, we receive it (it can be a private relay address). We use it only to contact you about your campaign.
Report a campaignThe reason and your random code, so one person's reports count once.

Please be careful with names. A campaign's title and dedication are visible to everyone with the link. Only include someone's name, such as a Hebrew name for a refuah shleimah, if they or their family agree, and never include more than is needed.

On this website, your random code is kept in your browser's local storage so the site recognises your chapters if you come back. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Who processes data for us

ProviderWhat forWhere
SupabaseDatabase for campaignsFrankfurt, Germany (European Union)
CloudflareHosting this website, and forwarding email sent to hello@lev.dayWorldwide network
AppleApp distribution, purchases, Sign in with Apple, finding your cityUnder Apple's privacy policy

These providers may keep short technical logs, including IP addresses, to run and secure their services. The campaign page loads a font from Google Fonts and code from jsDelivr, which receive your IP address when the page loads.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including Canada, Quebec, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Israel, you can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@lev.day. Because we don't know who takes part in a campaign, we may need the random code from your device to find your records.

If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information, France's CNIL or Israel's Privacy Protection Authority.

Children

Lev can be used by families, but creating a campaign requires an Apple account and is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above.
